Here is a photo of the trail winding through some trees in one of the more level areas of the trail. When hiking Kamanaiki you must enjoy the more level parts as a majority of the trail has a fairly steep ascent. There actually is one area that is so steep a rope has been set up to help you up the slope. This is one of the hikes were you probably should bring an assortment of sunscreen, bug spray and long pants helps as parts of the trail can be scratchy and depending on the weather there can be muddy and slippery portions so make sure you have shoes with good traction. Tomorrow will be a picture which I think helps show the steepness of the hike.
