This is one of my favorite pictures I took on the University of Hawaii campus.  This is the East-West Center Japanese garden.  This Japanese garden was finances by twenty-two business firms in Japan and built by specialists from Asia, the Pacific and the United States.  It was designed by landscape architect, Kenzo Ogata in 1963.  During a 1964 trip Prince Akihito and Princess Michiko of Japan blessed the garden during a traditional hold and release ceremony of koi.  In 1994 now Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko returned to view this garden.   Its a nice peaceful place to stroll or relax on campus between classes or meetings to escape the stress of the world.
