Time to end the week out with some food. We were cruising around in Kailua and got a chance to try Cactus Bistro out. I’ve heard about it before but this was my first time there. This is the Slow-roasted Shinsato Farm’s Pork Shoulder “Pernil” with tamarind agave glaze, Wailua mango escabeche and whipped potatoes with jalepeno butter. It was a good sized portion with two thick slices of pork and some crisp and crunch skin. I really enjoyed my dinner and my companions enjoyed theirs too. The only problem I have is that I live so far from Kailua.  Check it out at 767 Kailua Road and Isle Discount (ID) Card members get a discount on your meal.

One of life’s great pastimes is to lay down on the grass and stare up into the canopy of trees towering above you. The ground was pretty wet and muddy this day but I was still able to create that feeling by aiming my camera skyward. The overcast of clouds and diffused light makes the image almost seem to glow.

Here are some pretty red flowers in bloom at Ho’omaluhia Botanical Gardens. This is the Rondeletia Odorata which is actually part of the coffee family. It is native to Cuba and Panama and sometimes referredto as the Panama Rose.
