We end our Earth Day Mauka To Makai expo coverage with this giant display by the kids of Ala Wai School. It shows various plants and animals from Mauka (inland) to makai (ocean) in a nice colorful display. All things are affected when we don’t take care of the Earth. This serves as  reminder that we all should do our best to care for our planet.. because we only have one planet.

Continuing with the Earth Day theme here is one of the display at the Mauka to Makai Festival at the Waikiki Aquarium.  This earth day celebration is hosted by the Department of Health-Clean Water Branch and the City & County of Honolulu Environmental Services. It focuses on Hawaii’s unique water resources mauka (inland) to makai (ocean) and has hands-on educational activities and displays. This one taught about sea snails and shells. Thanks to my friends son Ken, for matching all the shells to the correct location so I could snap this photo.

Celebrating Earth Day 2015 with two new plant additions for the yard. On the left is a Cinnamon Basil plant (also known as Thai basil) courtesy of the Pacific Guardian Center Earth and Health Day Fair. On the right is the native ‘ilima plant (sida fallax) which is the flower of the island of Oahu. This herbaceous flower plan is part of the hibiscus family and has nice small golden yellow flowers. This is the 45th annual Earth Day I hope today everybody takes action and does at least one Act of Green.
