Today we begin our Pow Wow Hawaii 2015 series. Pow is the impact that art has on a person and Wow is the reaction that art has on a viewer. Pow Wow Hawaii is a week long gathering celebrating culture, music and art. The talented artists from around the world converge to Kakaako and create amazing art murals. We kick it off with “When Two Foxes Meet”.  This was created by Klone from Israel. You can find this on the Fisher Hawaii building on Pohukaina street between Coral and Cooke street. Below is a bonus photo of the Klone painting the mural.

Here is a photo from the Wah Ngai association’s “pole jumping” performance at Pearlridge. This was part of their Chinese New Years celebration. This is truly a spectacular performance.  The lion climbs the poles and jumps from pole to pole. This requires the coordination of the two people in the costume who need to time their moves and jumps precisely.  Of course a photo cannot do this justice so I invite you to check out Melissa Chang’s Lion Pole Dance Video on You Tube.
