Hawaii celebrates Kamehameha Day every year on June 11. The statue of King Kamehameha is ceremoniously draped in fresh lei and their are various hula and cultural performances.  This statue on Oahu sits in front of Ali’iolani Hale in downtown Honolulu. This building is home to the Hawaii State Supreme Court and was the former seat of government of the Kingdom of Hawaii and the Republic of Hawaii. The top photo shows both the statue and Ali’iolani Hale and the bonus photo below is a closer look at the statue.
