What better way to end Restaurant Week photos than with a dessert photograph. This is the Wailua Estate Flourless Chocolate cake with Ruby Port Ganache & Raspberry Coulis. My only problem with Restaurant Week is that it is only a week and there are only so many restaurants you can try during that time (though one of my friends did manage to hit five of them). Fear not though because in 2013 you will have another chance… an in fact daily you have a chance to try any of our great local restaurants.

So much yummy Restaurant Week Hawaii food that its time for yet another bonus double photo. Here are the two main courses at Azure Waikiki. The top one was voted the better of the two entrees by those at my table and is the Seared Hawaiian Yellow Fin Ahi & Diver Scallop with “Black magic” Spice, Sake Braised Spinach, Proscuitto Wrapped Enoki Mushrooms and a Port Wine Buerre Rouge.  Wow don’t I sound like a “foodie” now :)  Below is the Hawaii ranchers Ribeye Steak with Creamed Ewa Sweet Corn & Hamakua Mushrooms, Crispy Shallots and Sauce Bordelaise. You can see how Restaurant Week Hawaii’s participants used a lot of locally grown food.  Both entrees were awesome and through the magic of sharing I was able to sample both.

We move on to some appetizers from Azure at the Royal Hawaiian in Waikiki. the top photos may be one of the best appetizer I’ve ever eaten. It was the Sashimi of Japanese hamachi, Ikura, wasabi, yuzu and Hirabara Farms’ radish salad. I’m a big fan of hamachi and this presentation and taste was to die for. Below is the Sake Manila Clams with enoki mushrooms, pork belly and lemon gremolata. Thanks to Chef de Cuisine Jon Matsubara for preparing this special appetizer for our table.
