Chigiri-e is the Japanese art of paper tearing. In this technique colored paper is used to create image (which often has a water color effect) . The technique originated in the Heian period of Japan which was between 794 to 1185. Today is is used to create stunning images such as the ones on display at the Chigiri-e Hawaii demonstration area. As a bonus they even let you create a Valentine card of your own using this technique for a small donation.
