We continue our Hawaii Blog salute to the 2010 Olympics by looking at the Gastown Steam Clock. Located in the Gastown district of Vancouver, this clock incorporating a steam engine and electric motors displays the time on four faces. Every house the cock plays the Westminster Chimes and every 15 minutes it whistles with a gush of steam (as pictures). It is one of Vancouver’s most photographed attractions. While styled to appear as a 19th century antique it was built by Canadian horologist (horology by the way is the art or science of measuring time) Raymond Saunders in 1977.
