Here is the view from the top of Kamehame Ridge as seen from the Bob’s Moonwalk last year. Hopefully the view will be as spectacular tomorrow (Saturday January 30, 2010) when Bob will take a group the 1.5 miles up Kamehame Ridge for the moonwalk. Full details can be found here.

As mentioned in yesterdays Shark’s Cove photo you can often run into turtles at Sharks Cove and here is a picture of one them. The Honu (green sea turtle) comes into the cove sometimes to feed or just swim around. This one is just a baby as they can grow up to 45 inches and weigh 300-400 pounds. Those of you following our @hawaiiblog on twitter notice that I chose another one of my Honu pictures as the icon. The Honu is an endangered species so if you happen to run into one please keep a distance as it is illegal to touch, collect or harm them.

Located on the North Shore of Oahu is Sharks Cove where you can see a large variety of marine life. On occasion white tipped reef sharks may swim by hence the name of this area. If you do see sharks do not approach or try to touch them though they are usually not aggressive they will protect themselves if they sense danger. Many variety of fish can be seen here and odds are pretty good that you will see a turtle. It is best to visit during the months of February through October when the seas are calmer.
