An Ae’o or Hawaiian Stilt as photographed at the Kealia Pond National Wildlife Refuge. The Ae’o is an endangered species and numbers around 1500. The Ae’o flies between the islands and favors shallow brackish water ponds, mud flats and shorlines where it feeds on small invertebrates.
