View of part of the Ko’olau Mountain Range.  Ths is the fragmented remnant of a shield volcano that helped form Oahu.  What you see today is the western half of the original volcano the other half slid into the Pacifric Ocean over 10,000 years ago.  Many of Hawaii’s landmarks were created by this volcano over 500,000 years such as Diamond HeadHanauma BayKoko HeadPunchbowl Crater and Tantalus.
