Here we are looking out towards Sharks Cove on the North Shore of Oahu.  Sometimes on the reefs you will see some white tipped reef sharks which give the place its name.  Its a pretty good place to swim during the summer though during the winter months large waves make very dangerous conditions.

I hope everybody had a great weekend.  The weather has been hot and sunny here in Hawaii.  Here is a picture I took out at Kawailoa Beach on the North Shore of Oahu.  It is right next to the more well know Waimea Bay and Laniakea beaches and provides a less crowded alternative.

Here is another picture of Waialae stream this time taken at night.  I left the aperture open to collect the light.  It always amazes me how it can turn darkness into a picture if enough light is present though shots like this can really take a toll on the camera batteries.  If you do any long exposure shots be sure to bring extra batteries.

Here is a picture of the Kahala Beach shoreline taken just before sunset at Bob’s Moonwalk.  The part of the beach goes behind many of the houses on Kahala Avenue.  We made it to the furthest point in the photo then we hit an area where the water was all the way up to some walls.  In Hawaii the beaches are considered public property and homeowners and businesses are required to allow access to the beach.

Here is the picture of  the bridge spanning the Waialae stream at Kahala Beach (also known as Waialae Beach park) located on the south shore of Oahu.  The secret to taking this photograph is that I was standing on another bridge allowing me to capture the scene.  This is actually a nice beach park that is not well known.  Located along Kahala Avenue near 5-star The Kahala Hotel & Restort and Waialae Golf Course this park is a great picnic spot with nice views.

The full moon rises at Kahala Beach creating new moonlight reflections in the Pacific Ocean.  This picture was taken on Bob’s Kahala Full Moonwalk.  There is just something magical about walking along the beach in Hawaii with the full moon and the sound of crashing waves.  Maybe that’s why so many people come to visit our home.  In the next few days I will share some other pictures I took over in Kahala.  I hope everybody had a good weekend.

Here is the beautiful sunset at Honolulu Harbor as viewed from Gordon Biersch Restaurant at Aloha Tower Marketplace.   I especially like the orange glow reflected into the Pacific Ocean.  The sunset was unexpected since the gray skies dominated and it looked like a lot of rain was coming.  I took this while hanging out with the good people of the Honolulu Pau Hana a local business networking group that holds after work gatherings.  If your free on Saturday be sure to check out Bob’s Moonwalk at Kahala.

Here is a photo I took of a yellow shower tree.  It just amazes me at how yellow these trees turn and I love the contrast with the other green trees and the blue sky.  Here in Hawaii we really don’t have a dramatic changing of the seasons so shower trees like this is the closest thing we have.

So as we were breaking down our bbq site at Kailua Beach I looked up and saw a very strange cloud formation.  A little earlier the sky was filled with white cotton like clouds.  When I looked back up it there was a break between these clouds.  Not sure what caused it maybe some sort of weird wind format but it almost looks like somebody took the picture and went into photoshop with the erase tool.  What got me was just how straight the lines were.  If anybody knows what may cause this feel free to leave a comment.  It does make an intriguing photo of the day.

Hope you all had a great weekend.  I spent at great day at Kailua Beach park with friends that including bbq, swimming and even swinging in a hammock.  Though it was a bittersweet occasion as we had gathered to say good bye to one of our friends who is heading out to the mainland for graduate school… best of luck Bex.   After a long fun day I snapped this photograph just before sunset as we were preparing to leave.  There is always something so peaceful watching the ebb and flows of the waves on the shore of the beach.
